Management Team

Michelle Cheng
General Manager, Inflight Services

Michelle is leading the Inflight Services team that provides the inflight customer experience at Greater Bay Airlines. In addition, she oversees safety and emergency procedures training and all other matters related to the cabin crew team. Before joining Greater Bay Airlines, she worked for Dragonair/Cathay Dragon for more than 30 years. Her last position at Cathay Dragon was Head of Cabin Crew.

Michelle holds a Master’s degree in Management from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.

Paulus Lau
General Manager, Finance

Paulus has more than 35 years of experience in the aviation industry, with 18 years in senior management roles specialising in financial accounting, aircraft leasing, aviation insurance, and contract review.  He spent 18 years at Dragonair and was Assistant General Manager when he left in 2006. He worked for Hong Kong Airlines as Finance Director from 2007 to 2008 before joining Airport Authority Hong Kong  to work at Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport as Deputy General Manager from 2012 to 2015, and at Zhuhai Airport from 2015 to 2018 as Chief Financial Officer.

Paulus is an Associate Member of both the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. He holds Master’s degrees in Business Administration and Finance.

Christine Chan
General Manager, Human Resources

Christine has almost 30 years’ experience in HR, including over 20 years in the aviation industry of which 18 years was working in a senior management capacity. Her experience covers organizational development, talent recruitment, development and retention strategies, succession planning, compensation and benefits schemes, system and process design and re-engineering, productivity improvement, performance management and employee relations. During her tenure in Dragonair from 1992 to 2009, and particularly as General Manager Personnel since 1996, she was instrumental in building the foundation for nurturing the airline's growth to a 3,000-plus workforce. She also led the airline successfully, from an HR perspective, through the SARS crisis in 2003 and Dragonair’s integration into the Cathay Pacific Group in 2006.  From 2009 to 2014, she worked for Airport Authority Hong Kong as General Manager, Human Resources, taking overall charge of the entire human resources function at the Authority. She had introduced major HR initiatives for improving operational efficiency and cost effectiveness in a public organization, as well as promoting a performance culture there.

Christine holds a Master’s degree in Business Studies (Human Resources Management).

Darryl Chan
General Manager, Engineering

Darryl is a well-qualified Engineering leader, with experience gained in the leadership team of Cathay Pacific Airways’ Engineering Department, as Head of Engineering of Hong Kong Dragon Airlines and Director at Dah Chong Hong – Dragonair Airport GSE Service Ltd. He also successfully ran his own consultancy company with customers across the Asia-Pacific region, prior to joining Greater Bay Airlines.

Darryl graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Air Transport Engineering from City University in the UK. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and Hong Kong Institute of Engineers and a Chartered Engineer with the UK Engineering Council.

Giving back to the industry is one of his key principles and Darryl is the Honorary Secretary of the Royal Aeronautical Society (Hong Kong Branch) and the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers, Aircraft Division. He also sits on the advisory committees of the University of Hong Kong Mechanical Engineering Department and Hong Kong’s Polytechnic University’s Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautical & Aviation Engineering Departments. In addition, Darryl teaches Aviation Management at the City University of Hong Kong.

Ambrose Ng
General Manager, Ground Services

Ambrose has more than 40 years of experience in the aviation industry, specialising in airline/airport operation management, performance enhancement, quality assurance and safety management. He first gained extensive experience in airport operations with Jardine Airways in 1976, before joining Cathay Pacific Airways in 1985 to take up various positions  covering areas such as training, ground handling contracts, airport development, aeronautical/airport charges negotiation and airport product development. In 1996 he took up the role of Head of Ground Services at Dragonair, later becoming Director of Hong Kong Airport Services Ltd (HIAS), the airline’s ground handling subsidiary company. In 2012, he relocated to Shanghai to take up the position of Senior Quality Assurance and Service Development Director with Shanghai International Airport Services, a Cathay Pacific ground handling joint venture with Air China and Shanghai Airport Authority.

Ambrose holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia.

Kai Chung
General Manager, Flight Operations

Kai is an airline Captain with approximately 28 years experience with major international carriers such as Cathay Pacific, China Airlines, Qatar Airways and Cebu Pacific. With over ten years of senior management experience. Kai has previously held positions as a Technical Pilot and Fleet Manager with various airlines while operating Airbus widebody jets. With an extensive training background on the A330/A340/A350, Kai has also been Head of Training where he managed a multicultural group of training personnel.

As part of a small team for the introduction of the A350 into Qatar Airways over a three-year period Kai was intimately involved with many aspects connected with the Type's integration into the airline - the launch customer for the aircraft in 2014.

Kai graduated from SOAS (University of London) with an Hons degree in Law.

Having been away for so many years, Kai finally returns to his home in Hong Kong and is proud to be part of the Greater Bay family.
