Greater Bay Airlines commences scheduled service to Yonago today
Greater Bay Airlines brought a surprise to the passengers of its inaugural flight to Yonago in Japan with the appearance of Toripy, the mascot of Tottori Prefecture, before they boarded the aircraft at Hong Kong International Airport this morning. Joining this flight were the airline’s CEO Ms Liza Ng and a delegation of travel agents and key opinion leaders.
A welcome ceremony was hosted by the Tottori Prefectural Government at Yonago Kitaro Airport upon arrival of Greater Bay Airlines’ inaugural flight at about 4:00pm (local time). Officiating at the ceremony were: Mr Shinji Hirai, Governor of the Tottori Prefectural Government (fifth left); Ms Liza Ng, CEO of Greater Bay Airlines (fifth right); Mr Toichiro Adachi, Chairman of International Scheduled Flights Promotion Council (fourth left); Ms Winsome Au, Principal Representative of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Tokyo), Hong Kong SAR Government (fourth right); Mr Hisao Minoguchi, Director, Hong Kong Tourism Board (Japan Office) (third right); Mr Ensan Yuen, Chairman and Executive Director, EGL Holdings Company Limited (second right); Mr Michiaki Nozaka, Vice Chairperson, Tottori Prefectural Assembly (third left); Mr Takashi Igi, Mayor of Yonago City (second left); Mr Kentaro Date, Mayor, Sakaiminato City (first left), and Ms Asako Nara, Deputy Director General, Department of Commerce, Industry and Labour, Shimane Prefectural Government (first right).
Ms Liza Ng, CEO of Greater Bay Airlines, was appointed the Tottori Prefecture International Aviation Ambassador by Mr Shinji Hirai, Governor of the Tottori Prefectural Government, as a recognition of GBA’s contribution to the aviation industry development of Tottori Prefecture.
(27 October 2024) Greater Bay Airlines (GBA) brought a surprise to the passengers of its inaugural flight to Yonago in Japan with the appearance of Toripy, the mascot of Tottori Prefecture, before they boarded the aircraft at Hong Kong International Airport this morning. Joining this flight were the airline’s CEO Ms Liza Ng and a delegation of travel agents and key opinion leaders. This new scheduled service will operate three times a week between Hong Kong and Yonago.
A welcome ceremony was hosted by the Tottori Prefectural Government at Yonago Kitaro Airport upon arrival of the flight at about 4:00pm (local time). “Japan is an important market for GBA and we are very excited to introduce our third destination in Japan today in addition to Tokyo and Osaka,” said Ms Liza Ng, CEO of GBA. “We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude particularly to the Tottori Prefectural Government for their tremendous support to GBA.” The airline has recently announced the scheduled service to another two destinations in Japan, namely Tokushima and Sendai, to be launched in November and December 2024 respectively.
As a recognition of GBA’s contribution to the aviation industry development of Tottori Prefecture, Mr Shinji Hirai, Governor of the Tottori Prefectural Government, officially appointed Ms Liza Ng as the Tottori Prefecture International Aviation Ambassador at a dinner reception that was attended by Mr Takashi Igi, Mayor of Yonago City; Ms Winsome Au, Principal Representative of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Tokyo), Hong Kong SAR Government; Mr Toichiro Adachi, Chairman of International Scheduled Flights Promotion Council; and other distinguished industry leaders in Japan.

A value carrier based in Hong Kong, GBA commenced scheduled service in July 2022 and is currently operating flights between Hong Kong and Bangkok, Taipei, Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka and Manila with a fleet of eight Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Scheduled service to Zhoushan in China, Tokushima and Sendai in Japan will commence on 7 November, 16 November and 7 December 2024 respectively.
