Greater Bay Airlines supports the 2024-25 Budget
(28 February 2024) In the Financial Secretary’s 2024-25 Budget Speech, the Hong Kong SAR Government introduced a number of initiatives to drive the growth of the tourism and aviation industries in Hong Kong, strengthen the cooperation in different aspects with other cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and take forward the development of the intermodal logistics park. Greater Bay Airlines (GBA) CEO Stanley Hui shows support to the Budget, stating that Hong Kong’s status as an international aviation hub will be further enhanced, leveraging the development of our country’s “Air Silk Road” and the Hong Kong International Airport’s Three-runway System to be commissioned by the end of this year. He believes all these initiatives will help reinforce the momentum of the economic recovery, benefitting various industries including tourism and aviation as well as Hong Kong’s economy at large.
Mr Hui has full confidence in the prospect of the aviation industry in Hong Kong as the Budget will make better use of Hong Kong’s distinctive advantages of enjoying our country’s strong support and being closely connected to the world under “One Country, Two Systems”, proactively integrate Hong Kong into the overall national development and open up new opportunities for the city. As a Hong Kong-based airline, GBA currently operates services to a number of Asian destinations including Bangkok, Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Manila, Taipei, etc. The service to Singapore will commence in April 2024. With fleet expansion as an ongoing focus of this year, the airline will not only enhance frequencies to existing routes but it will also seriously consider planning new services to medium and large-sized cities in Mainland China such as Shanghai, Beijing as well as Xi’an and Qingdao where the Individual Visit Scheme will be expanded to as recently approved by the State Council.
