Greater Bay Airlines to launch Yichang scheduled service in December
(29 November 2024) The network coverage of Greater Bay Airlines (GBA) in Mainland China will further expand as the airline adds a scheduled service to Yichang in Hubei Province starting 17 December 2024. This new route will run three times a week every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday between Hong Kong and Yichang (Yichang Sanxia International Airport).
Located in southwestern Hubei Province, Yichang covers an area of about 21,000 square kilometres on both sides of the upstream and midstream of the Yangtze River. Yichang has rich tourism resources and is well known to the world for the award-winning Three Gorges Dam, Three Gorges Grand Waterfalls, Tribe of the Three Gorges, Qingjiang Gallery, Memorial Temple of Qu Yuan and Xiling Gorge, etc. Yichang attracted a total of 110 million local and international visitors in 2023 including three million travelling by air, according to the Yichang Municipal People’s Government. With the new direct service offered by GBA, more people are expected to visit Yichang from Hong Kong and nearby regions.

A value carrier based in Hong Kong, GBA commenced scheduled service in July 2022 and is currently operating flights between Hong Kong and Bangkok, Taipei, Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka, Yonago, Tokushima, Manila and Zhoushan with a fleet of eight Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
